BEACON FALLS — Woodland senior Morina Bojka earned her 1,000th-career point Jan 20.

Bojka converted the 1,000th point on a foul shot in a 55-47 win over Waterbury Career Academy.

“That was the best feeling in my life,” Bojka said. “We had a big crowd and there was so many of my family members at the game. It was great to share that with them.”

“Morina has really been stepping up big-time,” Woodland coach Jessica Moffo added. “She’s creating shots for herself and her teammates and has been good getting up and down the floor well.”

Bojka had 1,062 career points, including 574 points at Woodland. Bojka recorded 488 points at Chase Collegiate in Waterbury before transferring to Woodland before her junior year.

The previous Woodland girls 1,000-point career point scorers are Heather Framski (1,231 points, 2011 graduate), Jen Valente (1,157 points, 2006 graduate) and Sam LaCroce (1,067, 2007 graduate).

An aspiring nursing student, Bojka would also like to continue her basketball career and has narrowed her colleges to Mount South Mary’s, Hartwick College, Suffolk University and Eastern Connecticut State University.
