Twenty participants received a complimentary manicure and makeup consultation, gift bags of hair products and shampoo. Jimmy Tompkins from Prospect won the grand prize, which was round trip airfare to St. Louis, a private tour of the Anheuser Busch Brewery and a St. Louis Cardinals game. Tompkins, a 2012 graduate of Woodland Regional High School, joined the U.S. Marines in December 2012 and has served two deployments. Tompkins was serving on active duty when he was announced as the winner and could not accept the trip. The prize was offered to Tompkins’ parents, Kimberly and Jim Tompkins, a U.S. Army veteran. Kimberly and Jim Tompkins were flown to St. Louis and surprised during the start of the seventh inning of the Cardinals game when a video recording of Jimmy Tompkins thanking his parents for all they have done was played on the Jumbo-tron. The team, which qualified for the tournament by winning the Connecticut Cup last spring, was second in goals scored in the tournament with nine and tied for first in goals against with two.
