Glenn Connan
Republican
Board of Education candidate
Why are you running for this position?
“I am running for the Board of Education because I know we can do better than the ‘status quo.’ I wouldn’t trust our current Board of Education to manage a lemonade stand. So, I certainly do not trust them with a $60 million dollar budget and more importantly, our children’s future. Unlike most of our current school board members, I have ‘skin in the game.’ I am blessed to have three children—two of whom attend Maple Hill School.”
Have you held public office in the past? If so, what positions and when?
“No, I have never held public office but I do have real world experience that I can apply to elected office.”
What experience makes you qualified for this position?
“I have a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and an M.B.A. from Fairfield University. But more importantly, I have over 10 years of experience actually managing budgets. I believe my strong financial background along with my experience as a CFO is just what the doctor ordered for the BOE as I can provide the business sense the BOE has been lacking.”
If elected, what are your priorities and goals?
“We have a responsibility to the children, their parents and taxpayers to provide students the highest quality education possible at an affordable cost. To accomplish this mission we must eliminate waste, improve efficiency and be fiscal watchdogs to make sure we are getting the most value for our money.”
Typo – Board of Ed. So much for fiscal watchdog.
Didn’t see the candidate at the budget hearing for the Coard of Ed.
