NAUGATUCK — Borough police arrested a New York man after he allegedly sold illegal cannabis and THC products.

Naugatuck police arrested Saleh Ali, 33, of the Bronx, on Nov. 13 by warrant after residents’ complaints pointed out that illegal cannabis was sold from 92 Convenience at 92 Church St.

Police received multiple community complaints, many that originated from juveniles in the borough, about illegal cannabis and THC products that were sold at convenience stores and smoke shops in the community, according to a police news release.

After an extensive investigation, several law enforcement agencies including the Drug Enforcement Agency, the state Department of Consumer Protection, state Department of Labor, state Department of Revenue and the state Department Mental Health and Addiction Services carried out a search warrant on the convenience store as well on a neighboring apartment that was associated with the business.

Ali was charged with illegal manufacture, distribution or sales of cannabis or cannabis products, conspiracy to commit illegal manufacture, distribution or sale of cannabis or cannabis products, fourth-degree money laundering and fourth-degree conspiracy to commit money laundering.

He was released on a $100,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec 11.

“We would like to thank our state and federal partners for their collaboration and assistance in this investigation,” police said.
