NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Florence J. Williams, 87, passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday, March 4, 2017. She was the wife of the late James Williams, who passed away in 1974.
Mrs. Williams was born May 8, 1929 in Sandy Creek, N.Y., the daughter of the late William and Doris (James) Farmer. She moved to Beacon Falls in 1961 and was employed for over 15 years with the Uniroyal Footwear Division. After her time with Uniroyal, Mrs. Williams worked at Fortin’s Restaurant on Rubber Avenue. In the early 1980s, Mrs. Williams moved to Illinois until returning to Connecticut in the early 2000s.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughters, Ruth Remokitis of Waterbury, Helen Luke and her husband, Tom, of Sycamore, Ill., and Nancy Brooks and her husband, Jeff, of DeKalb, Ill.; her son, James Williams and his wife, Anna, of New Britain; her sister, Sarah Lee of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; her brothers, George Farmer of Mexico, N.Y., and Ralph Farmer of Lacona, N.Y.; her nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and her parents, Mrs. Williams is predeceased by her daughter, Juanita Williams; her siblings, Francis, Bertha, and Rose; her great-granddaughter, Amber; and her son-in-law, Robert Remokitis.
The funeral for Mrs. Williams will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will follow in Pines Bridge Cemetery, Beacon Falls. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
