PROSPECT — Starting this morning, Cook Road will be closed from Route 68 to Route 69 as town and hired workers complete a drainage project on the street and on Nancy Mae Avenue.
Cook Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as workers replace some 250 feet of pipe and install a half a dozen new drains as part of scheduled work.
Mayor Robert Chatfield said the metal pipe has rotted away and needs to be replaced.
Two police officers will direct traffic through detours and hand out written directions to businesses in the area: B&R Riding Stables, Holiday Hill and Highland Greens Golf Course.
“I want to thank the people for their cooperation in advance,” Chatfield said.
If the work if completed sooner, the road will reopen earlier.
