NAUGATUCK — William John “Butch” Schuld, age 72, of Naugatuck, entered into eternal rest on May 23, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born on Oct. 13, 1950, at Griffin Hospital in Derby, son of the late Harold “Doc” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Sonsini) Schuld. Butch worked as a mechanic for several years for local Tony Andreucci, Curtis Ryan Lincoln Mercury, and Sikorsky. Before opening Aquarius Grooming Shop, he groomed show dogs in Oxford.
He was also the founder of the Shelton businesses Renovations, Co-Op Kitchens, Baths & Tile and Kyle’s Corner Store, and was the facilities director for the Naugatuck YMCA before his retirement.
He was a lifelong resident of the Valley, a member of the Blue Bloods Motorcycle Club, loved riding motorcycles and enjoyed playing pool for more than 50 years at Derby Billiards, fishing, snow plowing for friends and neighbors, and volunteering several times a year to serve the homeless.
Butch is survived by his daughters Erica Francis and her fiance Tim Penton, and Karen Ross and her husband Mike; grandchildren Mia Ann Francis, Peyton Robert Ross, Justin Sean Francis, and Shellie Ann Ross; longtime companion Donna Lanosa; and sisters Debra Behuniak and Linda Mumford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his fiance Phyllis “Syd” Dearborn, and his sister Carole Rossi.
Friends were invited to greet the family on June 3, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. His funeral service was to follow in the parlor at 12:30 p.m.
