NAUGATUCK — John Lee Bissett, 68, husband of Karen (Skogman) Bissett, died Feb. 1, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital.
John was born May 7, 1953, in Detroit, Mich., son of the late Jack and Audrey (Pariseau) Bissett, and graduated from St. Mary of Redford High School in Detroit in June of 1971. He studied marketing and management at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Mich., and he worked for 35 years as an automotive service adviser, retiring in 2020.
John was an avid fisherman and hunter, and always looked forward to opening day to go fishing with his close friend John “Fumes” Fumal. He loved watching the Boston Red Sox and both men and women’s UConn basketball games.
John enjoyed driving his Harley Night Train on Connecticut back roads, especially with his wife, Karen. What he loved most was visiting his son and family, especially his grandchildren, Amias and Emmeline.
John is survived by his loving wife of almost 44 years, Karen Bissett; his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Mallory Bissett; his grandchildren, Amias and Emmeline Bissett; his sisters, Carrie Hickey and Ruth Lukens; and his brothers, Joe Bissett and Wayne Bissett.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his son, Jameson Bissett, and his sister, Jean Marion.
All services will be private and there are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
