PLANTSVILLE — Nicholas C. Mecca, 85, of 157 Burritt Street, a former long time Prospect resident passed away on Sunday, Nov. 14 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Christine “Dolly” (Lombard) Mecca.
Mr. Mecca was born on September 16, 1925 in Waterbury a son of the late Dominic and Victoria (Williams) Mecca . He graduated from Post College with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. He was retired from Lombard Bros. Trucking where he worked as the director of maintenance for many years. He was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S Coast Guard. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his daughter, Victoria Biello and her husband Antonio of Prospect, one son, Dominic Mecca of Delray Beach, FL, one sister, Vita Baker an her husband Frank of New Hartford and his two adoring grandchildren Nicholas Biello and Krista Biello. He is also survived by his friend and life partner Ruth Ryan and several nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters in law.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 14 Bentwood Drive, Waterbury. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69, Prospect is in charge of the arrangements.
