NAUGATUCK — Elizabeth C. (Schiller) Harrison, 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Robert Harrison whom she was married to for 58 years.
Mrs. Harrison was born on Aug. 6, 1922 in Naugatuck a daughter of the late Louis Schiller and Katherine (Smith) Schiller. She worked for Town Clerk’s Office in Naugatuck for years and retired from John Howard Whittemore, Co. where she worked as an office manager. She was a graduate of Naugatuck High School Class of 1940 and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and YMCA Water Lilies. Elizabeth was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the Naugatuck Senior Center, Cape Cod, telling stories, laughing, singing, watching UConn Huskies, going to musicals and plays, knitting/crocheting and decorating for the holidays. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Harrison of Bethlehem; four sons, Robert and William Harrison both of Middlebury, Steven Harrison and his wife Zorka of Lisbon, and Raymond Harrison and his wife Maria of Waterbury; two sisters, Grace Nolan of Naugatuck, Teresa Sroka of Wallingford; a sister-in-law, Mary Schiller and brother-in-law, Duane Bretvick. She also leaves her five grandchildren, Jessica Melendez, Mark Harrison, Brian Harrison, Kristy Harrison and Bill Harrison and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Helen Bretvick and brother, Louis Schiller.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Waterbury VNA Hope Team for the loving care they gave mom in her time of need.
The funeral will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. All are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
