NAUGATUCK — On July 1, 2019, John C. Fruin III lost his constant battle trying to overcome addiction. A hard battle he fought for a long time, and one fatal dose that took him from us.
John was born on Feb. 2, 1973, son of the late John (Jack) Fruin Jr. and Francine (Baukus) Fruin. He was Dad to his greatest love Kassandra Jean Fruin, whom he was so very proud of.
John graduated from Naugatuck High School, class of 1991. He was called “Johnny Ballgame,” an All-Star, All-NVL and All-State athlete, and if nothing else, he was a faithful sensitive friend who never judged and saw the good in everyone. Only his huge heart surpassed his friendliness, compassion and sincerity for his friends and family.
We will miss his beautiful hazel eyes and his friendly smile, but not the heartache he struggled with daily. “Everyone loved John” and we are praying his “good soul” has reached the “peace” he had been searching for.
Besides John’s mom and daughter, he is survived by his two sisters, Kathleen Fruin Russo and her husband, John, of Sarasota, Fla., and Kelly Fruin of Naugatuck; his nieces and nephews, who fondly called him “Uncle,” Naomi and Adam Haywood, Taylor, Hannah, Matthew and Renee
Russo; aunt and uncle, Jim and Jill Baukus, and uncle, Gary Fruin, along with many cousins and his dearest friends, JR and Julie Miller, and their son, Johnny (Ballgame #2).
Thanks to everyone who has expressed their love for John and their sincere sympathy. It has been extremely appreciated and accepted with love.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m.
In lieu of donations, please just do an act of kindness for someone you know or don’t know, in honor of John.
